Fluffy Scones with a Sweet Sugar Coating
Servings: 4 delicious pieces
Ingredients
- 235 g self-raising flour
- 0.5 tsp baking powder
- 40 g cold butter
- 35 g sugar (+ 1 tbsp extra for decoration)
- 1 sachet of vanilla sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 120 ml milk (+ 1 tbsp extra for brushing)
Preparation method
1. Preparing the dough
Mix the self-raising flour and baking powder in a bowl. Add the cold butter in small cubes and rub with your fingertips until crumbly.
2. Assembling the dough
Stir the sugar, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt into the mixture. Then add the milk and mix until a cohesive dough forms. Knead lightly and roll out the dough to a thickness of about 2 cm.
3. Cutting and shaping
Using a cutter or glass of approximately 8 cm diameter, cut out 4 circles. Reuse the dough by rolling it out again until you have formed all the scones. Place the scones on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
4. Finishing
Brush the top of the scones with a little milk and sprinkle with sugar for a light crispy layer.
5. Baking
- In the oven: Preheat the oven to 200°C and bake the scones for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- In the airfryer: Bake the scones in the basket (with baking paper) for approximately 14 minutes at 180 °C.
Tip: Serve warm with clotted cream, jam or honey. Perfect for a high tea or a treat with coffee or tea! ☕🍓🥰
