Crispy Sushi | From the Airfryer

Make Crispy Sushi Rolls in the Airfryer! 🍣

Take your sushi experience to the next level with these deliciously crispy Airfryer sushi rolls. Perfect for a surprising twist on classic sushi!

Ingredients:

  • 250 g sushi rice
  • 350 ml water
  • 5 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • Sushi filling of your choice*
  • 5 sheets of nori
  • 50 g panko (Japanese breadcrumbs)
  • 30 g Zaanse mayonnaise

Preparation method:

  1. Prepare the rice:
    Boil the sushi rice in water. Once it boils, turn the heat down and let it simmer for 10 minutes with the lid on. Then let it steam for 15 minutes with the lid on the pan.

  2. Make the dressing:
    Heat the rice vinegar with salt and sugar until dissolved. Mix through the warm rice and let cool to room temperature.

  3. Fill the sushi:
    Place a nori sheet with the rough side up on a bamboo mat. Spread the rice thinly and evenly over the sheet, leaving 2 cm free at the top. Add your favorite filling on 1/3 of the rice.

  4. Roll and breadcrumb:
    Roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the outside of the roll and roll in panko.

  5. Airfry:
    Preheat the Airfryer to 200°C. Bake the sushi roll for 3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

  6. Serve:
    Cut the crispy sushi roll into slices and enjoy your unique, homemade Airfryer sushi!

💡 Tip: Combine salmon, avocado and cucumber as a filling or experiment with tuna and wasabi mayo!
