Ingredients
For the cake base:
- 300 g self-raising flour
- 80 g granulated sugar
- 175 g cold butter, cubed
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp milk
- pinch of salt
For the apple pie filling:
- 4 Elstar apples, peeled and diced
- 2 tbsp light brown caster sugar
- 50 g raisins (not soaked)
- 1 tsp gingerbread spices
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
And further:
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
Preparation method
-
Make the pie dough:
- Place all the ingredients for the pie crust in a food processor and knead into a smooth dough.
- Wrap the dough in cling film and let it rest in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
-
Prepare the filling:
- Mix the apple cubes with brown sugar, raisins, gingerbread spices and lemon juice in a bowl.
-
Prepare the cake tin:
- Grease a springform pan well. Preheat the Airfryer to 160℃.
- Roll out the dough to a thickness of 2 mm. Line the bottom and sides of the springform pan with the dough.
- Sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the base to absorb the moisture from the apples.
-
Fill and decorate the cake:
- Spoon the apple filling into the pie dish.
- Roll out the remaining dough again and cut into 1cm wide strips. Lay the strips crosswise over the filling to create a traditional grid pattern.
- Brush the top with beaten egg.
-
Bake the apple pie:
- Place the springform pan in the Airfryer and bake for 30 minutes at 160℃ until the cake is golden brown and cooked through.
Serve the apple pie warm or cooled, possibly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Enjoy! 🍰✨
