- 150 ml lukewarm milk
- 30 g sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
- 35 g unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 220 g flour (all-purpose)
- 1.5 tsp instant yeast
- Oil spray

- 95 ml lukewarm milk
How to Make Perfect Airfryer Donuts
Step 1: Activate the Yeast
In a large bowl, combine the lukewarm milk, yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Stir gently and let sit for 10 minutes, until bubbles appear on the surface. This means the yeast is active and ready to go!
Step 2: Make the Dough
In a separate bowl, mix the remaining sugar, salt, egg, and melted butter. Gradually add half of the flour. Then add the yeast mixture and the remaining flour a little at a time, and knead until you have a smooth, elastic dough. This should take about 5 minutes.
Step 3: Let the Dough Rise
Cover the bowl with a clean tea towel and leave the dough in a warm place for 1-2 hours, until it has doubled in volume.
Step 4: Shape the Donuts
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured work surface to about 1.25cm (½ inch) thickness.
- Use a 3-inch (7.5 cm) cutter to make donuts and a 1-inch (2.5 cm) cutter for the center circles.
- Place the rings on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, leaving enough space between them. Let them rest for 10-15 minutes, until they have doubled in size again.
Step 5: Bake the Donuts in the Airfryer
- Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F) for 3 minutes.
- Spray the basket of the airfryer lightly with oil. Place the donuts in, making sure there is enough space, and spray them lightly with oil.
- Bake the donuts for 4-5 minutes until golden brown and perfectly risen.
Step 6: Glaze the Donuts
- Mix the sifted icing sugar with the lukewarm milk in a bowl until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract for extra flavor.
