Crispy, sticky chicken with perfectly seasoned fries – better than takeout! 😍

This dish has it all : a crispy layer, a sticky sweet-spicy glaze and irresistibly spicy fries. And the best part? Everything comes from the airfryer! 🀩

πŸ›’ What do you need? (for 2 persons)

For the chicken:

βœ… 360 g chicken thighs, diced
βœ… 2 tsp soy sauce
βœ… 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
βœ… 1 cm ginger, grated
βœ… 1 egg or egg white, beaten
βœ… 23 g cornflour
βœ… Low-calorie baking spray

For the Salt & Pepper Chips:

βœ… 150 g fries with skin (ready-made or cut yourself)
βœ… Β½ onion, diced
βœ… 1 red and 1 green pepper, diced
βœ… Β½ tsp Chinese five spice powder
βœ… Pinch of sweetener or sugar
βœ… 1 tsp soy sauce

For the sticky glaze:

βœ… 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
βœ… 1 tsp dark soy sauce
βœ… 1 tsp honey
βœ… Juice of Β½ lemon
βœ… 2 tbsp water

Optional for serving:

βœ… Spring onion, finely chopped
βœ… Sesame seeds
βœ… Prawn crackers


πŸ”₯ Preparation method:

1️⃣ Marinate the chicken with 1 tsp soy sauce, garlic and ginger.
2️⃣ Coat the chicken in the beaten egg , then in the cornstarch for that delicious crispy layer.
3️⃣ Spray lightly with baking spray and air fry at 190Β°C for 14-16 minutes , turning halfway and spraying again. (Tip: use baking paper to prevent sticking!)
4️⃣ Meanwhile, briefly fry the onion and pepper in a pan with a little baking spray.
5️⃣ Add the fries with the five-spice powder, soy sauce and sweetener and fry briefly.
6️⃣ Make the glaze: Place all ingredients in a saucepan and heat over high heat until bubbling.
7️⃣ Add the crispy chicken to the glaze and mix well so that everything is coated.
8️⃣ Serve the sticky chicken with the Salt & Pepper Chips , top with spring onion, sesame seeds and possibly some kroepoek.
