What do you need? 🛒
For 3 persons
Ingredients:
- 3 medium yellow onions
For the wet mix:
- 1/2 cup flour (or gluten-free flour)
- 2/3 cup unsweetened plant-based milk
- 1/2 tsp paprika powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp salt
For the dry mix:
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 tsp paprika powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1/4 tsp salt
This is how you make them 🥄
Step 1: Prepare the onion rings
Cut the ends off the onions and remove the skins. Slice the onions into slices about 1.5 cm thick. Gently push out the center of each slice to make hollow rings. Use two layers per ring for extra strength.
Step 2: Make the wet and dry mix
In a bowl, mix the flour, plant-based milk, paprika, turmeric and salt until smooth. In a separate bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs, paprika, turmeric and salt. Divide the dry mix between two bowls to prevent lumps.
Step 3: Coating and Preparing
Preheat the airfryer for 3 minutes at 180°C. Dip each onion ring first in the wet mix and then in the dry mix. Make sure they are completely covered with breadcrumbs. Place the onion rings in an airfryer liner or directly in the basket.
Step 4: Fry the onion rings
Bake the onion rings in the airfryer for 8-10 minutes at 180°C. Check halfway through and shake the basket lightly for even crispiness. Work in batches to avoid overcrowding.
Serve and enjoy🌟
Serve the onion rings straight from the airfryer, still nice and warm, with your favorite dipping sauce. This crunchy treat is perfect for parties, movie nights or just as a savory snack. Enjoy the perfect balance of softness and crunch, completely guilt-free! 😍
